S121 19th Century Gas Wall Sconces with Old Glass – a Pair

$1,050.00

A pair of mid 19th Century Victorian sconces with brass scroll arms, crytals and original glass. Attributed to Cornelius & Co due to the characteristic castings on the gas fittings. Made in the US. Arms are a smooth brass with cast morning glories on tendrils, and the backplate is italianate with two cherubs. Original etched glass with a ruffle top. The shade holders are hung with colonial spear crystals. These would be lovely beside a mantel, in a formal dining room, or in a foyer. The sconces are in excellent condition and have been restored and wired. All gas fittings have been adapted for safe electrical use. The backplate is a replacement, for use with a modern electrical box. Each sconce takes a single standard edison bulb, 100 watt max, although you’d rarely want so much light from sconces like these.
