S112 19th Century Victorian Gilt Brass Sconces – a Pair
$2,500.00
A pair of mid 19th Century Victorian sconces with gilt brass scroll arms, crystals and original glass. Attributed to Starr Fellows & Co. and made in the US. Arms are made of a stamped brass decorative tubing, with foliate details, and a cast leaf gas cock. Colonial crystal prisms hang from the shade holders. These sconces have a rather long extension from the wall so they would be stunning flanking a mantel or anywhere else you want to make a statement. They have been completely restored and wired to modern electrical standards and are in very good condition. Original gas fittings have been adapted for safe electrical use. The original mounting backplate is still intact, with a larger backplate behind for use with modern electrical boxes. The original glass has some imperfections from manufacturing and a small chip as shown in the detail photos. The arms have some patina and tarnishing as shown in the photos. Each sconce takes a standard edison base bulb, 100 Watt max, although I don’t think you’d ever want that bright of a bulb in these!
