SOLD 19th Century Flemish Bronze and Crystal Eight Light Chandelier

$5,200.00

An unusual chandelier with characteristic Flemish brass casting and crystals.  A Single tier of candles topped with two tiers of brass arms topped with crystal balls to catch the light.  Arms feature an unusual keyhole design with crystal hanging teardrops. Top tiers are hung with teardrops, cut crystals and glass beads, and the bottoms tiers are hung with decorative rosettes, cut glass beads, and cut crystal pendants.  Arms are solid cast brass with tendrils, and stem pieces are made of finely turned brass.  All solid brass with a dark oil rubbed bronze finish.  This chandelier was originally made for candles and has been carefully electrified.  Our in house restoration included complete disassembly, careful cleaning and protecting of all metals, cleaning and restringing crystals, replacing where necessary, and wiring.  The design of this piece predates wireways,  and so we opted to use an 18 gauge wire that blends in with the finish of the metals, and is carefully wired to the arms in the least visible way.  Eight lights, with polybeeswax candlecovers, and candelabra sockets wired for 60 Watt max.  Complete and ready for installation with chain and canopy. This piece would be delightful in a dramatic stairwell or in a prominent location with high ceilings.   European, 19th Century.

Dimensions: 22” Diameter x 31” Height (minimum overall hanging length).
